Marjorie A. Kosoy, Ed.D. is a licensed psychologist, who has been in private practice for over twenty years and is the co-founder of Red Bird Center located in Houston, Texas. For the past several years, her practice has centered on issues of loss. She founded Red Bird Center in 2003 with Sheryl Levin, M.Ed., to counsel individuals and families through their loss and through the bereavement process. In addition to her work with Red Bird Center, Dr. Kosoy has worked with varying populations including parents and children with both chronic and terminally ill family members, and children with learning differences and their parents. She serves as a consulting psychologist for several Houston area private schools. Dr. Kosoy?s work with adult populations has centered on relationship issues as well as those experiencing the loss of health, the loss of a partner due to divorce, the loss of a spouse, and the loss of a child. Over the course of her career, Dr. Kosoy has been called upon to lead staff development workshops for hospitals, educational institutions and social service organizations including Tulane Law School, The Women's Center and The Houston Jewish Community Center. She has been a guest lecturer for many organizations including: The Arthritis Association, The American Lung Association, The Harris County Department of Health, IBM, The Association of Operating Room Nurses, University of Houston, Graduate School of Education. Dr. Kosoy taught as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas Graduate School of Education. Dr. Kosoy received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, and her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from The University of Houston. She has served and held offices on various boards in the community including: The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, The Orton Dyslexia Society, The Homes of St. Marks Adoption agency, The Houston Bureau of Jewish Education, The Emery Weiner School, The Parrish School. Her professional memberships include The American Psychological Association, The Texas Psychological Association and The Houston Psychological Association. |
